How that compares with the market

Published Australian guides for 2026 put a professionally built small business website at about $3,000–$10,000, with most agency projects between $5,000 and $25,000+. Custom and integrated sites run $6,000–$40,000, and e-commerce $10,000–$60,000+. DIY builders cost $300–$2,000 a year, plus your own time.

Onmark's Launch and Growth tiers sit in the middle of the small business range. They include design, a CMS and SEO foundations as standard.

Which level do you need?

  • Launch suits a new or small business that needs a credible, fast site and a clear path to an enquiry.
  • Growth suits a business with several services, locations or audiences that needs to generate leads, not just be found.
  • Platform suits online stores, property listings, bookings, or anything that connects to other systems.

What changes the price

  • Number of unique page layouts. It's the templates that cost money, not the page count.
  • Content: whether you supply the words and images, or we write and source them.
  • Integrations: CRM, bookings, payments, property feeds.
  • Functionality: search, filters, calculators, member areas.
  • Migration: moving and redirecting an existing site's content.

Ongoing costs to plan for

A website isn't a one-off cost. Ask every agency to put these in writing:

As a guide, self-managed sites cost $50–$150 a month to run. Agency care plans start around $150 a month for hosting and updates, and cost more once regular improvement work is included.

Questions to ask before you sign

  1. 1

Who owns the site and content?

    You should, fully.

  2. 2

    Can we edit it ourselves?

Ask for a live demo of the CMS.

  3. 3

    What's the process?

Look for discovery, a sitemap and wireframes before design.

  4. 4

    How is it tested?

On phones, for speed, and for accessibility.

  5. 5

    What happens after launch?

Training, a warranty period, and a support plan.

91%of the work we've launched is still live and evolving

Getting value from the budget

  • Get your brand sorted first. Designing a site on an unclear brand means redoing it later.
  • Write the content early. Late copy is the most common cause of delays.
  • Build for your top two actions. Enquire and call, or book and buy. Everything else supports those.

Is a template website cheaper?

Upfront, yes. It's a good choice for a very early business. The cost comes later, when it can't grow with you and has to be rebuilt.

How long does it take?

4–16 weeks depending on the level. Content and feedback turnaround usually decide the timeline more than the build does.

Do you include SEO?

Every site includes SEO foundations: structure, speed, metadata and analytics. Ongoing SEO and content work is part of Growth & Marketing.
